Bamboo Tray

Bamboo TrayMaterials Needed:
1-2 6' Bamboo Poles
Epoxy Glue
Jute
12" x 18" mirror
Saw to miter ends for Option #1

OPTION #1
1.
Choose a length of bamboo that is most consistent in size, diameter.

2. Cut a 45o angle on the end of the bamboo pole. Measure 18" and make another 45o cut. Measure 18” and repeat making a 45° cut. Measure 12” and make a 45° cut and repeat cutting another 12” length with a 45° angle cut.

3. Place a small dab of epoxy on the end cuts and assemble the 12" length to the 18” length. Optional: You may place a small amount of epoxy on the back of the corner and wrap tightly around the corner with jute. Secure with glue once you have wrapped the corner and repeat for each corner.

4. Place a bead of epoxy approximately 1/2” in from edge on top of the mirror surface to secure the bamboo frame to the surface. Allow to cure. If the bond is not secure, apply a small bead of glue between the bamboo and the mirror edge and allow to cure. Your Bamboo Tray is complete!

OPTION #2:
1. If you do not have a saw to miter the ends of the bamboo you may also make an another version with straight cuts. Simply cut (2) 12” lengths of Bamboo and (2) 18” lengths of bamboo. Optional: you may choose to wrap the long ends of the bamboo with jute, if you do, simply wrap tightly and secure with glue on the back.

2. Place the Bamboo lengths on the mirror for positioning and adjust accordingly. Next lift one of the pieces and secure to the mirror with epoxy. Repeat on each side. Allow the epoxy to cure.
