Baseball Frame
Designed by Shelia Sommers, Project courtesy of deltacrafts.com

Over the years I've learned that boys love to paint as much as girls. The problem has been that there are very few projects out in the market place that captures the boys' imaginations. Here's a project they are sure to love!

Baseball FrameMaterials Needed:
Delta Ceramcoat® Acrylic Paints:
Golden Brown, Autumn Brown, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Napthol Crimson, Moroccan Red, Ultra Blue, White
Delta Ceramcoat All-Purpose Sealer
Delta Ceramcoat Gloss Spray Varnish

Other Supplies:
- Brushes: Kids Are Painters Too! Set
- Wooden frame measures 9-1/2" X 7-1/2" with a 5" X 7" opening however feel free to purchase a frame larger or smaller. You will need to purchase a frame where the sides are at least 1-1/2" wide to accommodate the various sports designs.
- Palette paper or paper plate
- Water container
- Fine tip black pen
- If you have purchased an unfinished frame, you will need to have the following supplies on hand: Sand paper & Tack cloth

Tips for Success
The easiest way I've found for kids to successfully transfer any design onto most surfaces is to have the kids trace the patterns onto a piece of paper. Turn the paper right side down onto your table and retrace the designs. When you flip the patterns over place them appropriately onto the frame and again retrace. The graphite from the pencil will transfer onto your surface. This allows the kids to place each piece exactly where they want them.

Before You Begin
  • If you have purchased an unfinished frame, sand the entire project and remove any dust created with the tack cloth. Apply a coat of Delta Ceramcoat All-Purpose Sealer and allow the piece to dry. Re-sand. Apply a basecoat color using your favorite shade of Ceramcoat acrylic paint. Apply one to two coats as desired.
  1. Trace and transfer the various sports designs onto the surface of your frame.

Glove- Paint Autumn Brown and shade with Burnt Umber.

  3. Allow the paint to dry and outline the designs using a fine tip black pen.
