Diamond Fleece Scarf
Designed by Nancy Cornwell

Diamond Chenille ScarfMaterials Needed:
60" fleece
- color 1 (Winter White) - 1/4 yd
- color 2 (Dark Red) - 1/4 yd
Straight edge rotary cutter
1/4" Omni Ministrip (mini cutting mat)
Fabric Marker

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Cut a 9" x 60" scarf from both colors.

2. Draw and cut out a 5-1/2" square paper template.

3. Using fabric marker, draw a center line on the right side of fabric down the entire length of one scarf. To determine the right side of fleece, pull along cut edge, on the crossgrain (direction of most stretch). Fleece will curl to the wrong side.

4. Rotate square paper template to form a diamond and center over drawn centerline. Draw 5 diamonds onto scarf, spacing them 1-1/2" apart. Trim other end of scarf to 6" beyond last diamond.

5. Pin Color 1 scarf to Color 2 scarf, wrong sides together.

6. With matching thread in needle and bobbin, sew first traced diamond.

7. Sew a second row of stitching, exactly 3/8" away from, and inside first stitching line. Repeat, stitching a total of 7 rows (6 channels). Finish by stitching a short row across remaining center diamonds.

8. Repeat step 7 for the other four diamonds.

9. Stitch long side seams of scarf with 3/8" seam allowance, beginning and ending 4" from ends of scarf.

10. Using a rotary cutter, trim long sides of scarf close to seam line. Trim scarf ends to be even.

11. Using sharp scissors, make a small slit in the outer channel of first diamond. Cut the top fleece layer only. Insert 1/4" Omni Ministrip® in channel and cut channel until all diamond channels have been slashed open. Use sharp scissors to slash innermost diamond.

12. Cut 1/2" fringe 4" long at both short ends of scarf.
