It's Hip to be Square - Canvas art
Instructions: 2. Using a wadded up paper towel as your applicator and the Dk Burnt Umber paint, sponge the dark paint over the based coat to give a textured look. Let dry. 3. Seal the entire canvas with a good coat of Mod Podge Matte Sealer. Let dry. 4. Choose 25 of your favorite pieces from your charm pack. Set the rest aside. The extras can be used in another fabric project. A table runner or pillow to match your wall art perhaps? 5. Center one chipboard square onto the back side of one of the fabric squares. Using your glue stick, place a small amount of glue on each corner and press the corner of the fabric over onto the chipboard as shown in diagram A below. Then run a strip of glue down one side of the chipboard and pull the fabric up and over the glue. Repeat with the other three sides stretching fabric taut as you go. See Diagram B below. Set aside to dry and repeat with the remaining squares. 6. Play with the position of the fabric squares until you like the layout. Glue the squares in place using the 527 glue. Don't get the glue too close to the edge of the squares so it doesn't ooze out the sides. You may want to use a ruler to position the squares so they lay out evenly across and down the canvas. I found that about 1/2" in between the squares and about 3/4" from the outside edge of the canvas was about right. 7. Paint 6 of the front sides of the scrolls with the Rooster Red paint. Let dry. Use a dry brush and the Burnt Umber paint to add a bit of distressing to the edges of the scrolls. Seal with the Mod Podge Matte Sealer. Let dry. 8. Figure your desired placement for the scrolls on top of the squares and glue in place with the 527 glue. You're all done and your art is ready to hang!
