You need 4 things for a successful scrapbooking on the wall project:

Select your pictures

Pictures:

As with any great scrapbook page, start with great pictures. Black and white or color, it doesn’t matter. Try mixing the two, as we did in this project, for another effect. For scrappin’ on the wall projects, use large sized pictures, so they don’t get lost in the project.

Canvases

Canvases:

Any art canvases will look good. Try using different sizes and shapes (square with rectangle, or a very large 12 x 12 with a smaller 4 x 4). In this project we used canvases that are different depths to add more dimension to the project.

Background

Background:

The most common backgrounds are paint and paper. You don’t have to limit yourself to these. Be creative! Add texture with sand, textured paint, fabric or wire mesh. The possibilities are endless.  In this project we painted all of the canvases the same color to create a coordinated look. You can also use different colored paint on each segment of your project to make individual pieces stand out.

Embellishments

Embellishments:

As with scrapbooking, you can use just about anything to embellish your project. On this one we used beads and charms for depth, ribbon to add luster and coordinate the pieces. We created the text in a variety of ways with a metal tag, letter tiles, painted wood letters, and flat glass stones.

Mod Podge all over canvas

Paint a layer of Mod Podge all over the front of the canvas, covering all the exposed canvas, photos and paper. Make sure to cover the edges of the paper and photos. This will seal all your paper to the canvas.   When the Mod Podge is dry, you can start adding embellishments.

Put embellishments

- Ribbon – Staple the ribbon ends to the back of the canvas to hold is securely.

- Stones and wood letters – Use E6000 glue or other super strong, clear glue to make sure your embellishments don’t fall off.

- Beads – Run your thread or wire right through the canvas to hang your beads.
