Sculpey Amazing Eraser Clay
Pencil Topper Creatures

Sculpey Eraser Clay Pencil ToppersMaterials Needed:
-
Sculpey Eraser Clay - colors of your choice
- Pencils
-
Some household tools you might want to use for this project: toothpick or large needle, old rolling pin or heavy glass jar

Before you start: All Amazing Eraser Clay should be conditioned before use. Just knead the clay in your hands until soft and of even consistency. Don't overwork it.

Requirements: The Pencil Topper Creatures must be no larger than 2 inches in any direction. It cannot be any shorter than 1 inch. It must fit on the end of a pencil. Test them to make sure they stay on the pencils. The holes must be tight and at least 3/4 of an inch deep. If you put them on the pencil and they get stuck, twisting slowly helps to take them apart.

If these are going to be used as erasers, remember not to have small or thin parts sticking out too far, because they can't take to pressure of being rubbed on paper.

NOW HAVE FUN! Just create your own funny, funky creatures!

Once your project is complete, bake in your home oven at 250 for 10 minutes. Over baking will cause the erasers to not erase very well. Make sure your oven is the right temperature by checking it with an oven thermometer. This clay needs to be slightly underbaked so that it will "degrade" as you erase. If it is baked hotter, it will totally fuse and will not erase pencil marks. Baking will always be an estimate as there can be multiple thicknesses. You can bake longer, BUT NOT HOTTER! Lighter colored clays can be shielded with aluminum foil to prevent darkening.

Allow the erasers to cool completely before handling them.

They display very nicely on a new set of pencils in a nice cup. Great Mother's Day or Father's Day gift!
