Biography
Justin Hillgrove grew up in Snohomish, Washington enjoying artistic expression since he was old enough to color on the walls. He studied Design and Illustration at Seattle Central and has since enjoyed many years of freelance illustration, working on children's books, collectible card games, commissioned fine art and many other projects. He is also currently the Art Director at a publication in Bothell, Washington.
Justin began and continues his "Imps and Monsters" oil painting frenzy as a creative outlet and the series has become wildly popular among a surprising array of people. The creatures depicted and the satyrical situations they find themselves in are reflections of moments which Justin finds amusing, many of which are inspired by his children. There are too many influences and sources of inspiration to list here, but most notable among them are family and friends, and great artists like Nathan Jurevicius, Tim Burton, and Gary Baseman.
