Seasonal Tablescape (Dec. 06)
Stumped by style? Dazed by decorating? It's really not as hard as you think. A stunning seasonal tablescape is easy for anyone to create if they just keep in mind a few easy tips.
- Don't be afraid of height and color; the color in your arrangement will bring out other colors in your home, while a bit of height adds dimension and weight to your arrangement. If your space calls for a short and wide arrangement, trail tendrils off the side to get that designer look.
- Use odd-numbered quantities of an item, especially if it is large or bulky; even-numbered amounts tend to look too symmetrical and staged.
- Candles add interest to an arrangement as well as warmth and fragrance. Candles on candlesticks fill the bill for height, too. Consider using candlesticks of different height for the most impact.
- Experiment with "non-traditional" items in your arrangement to make it unique! Add your own natural elements such as sticks or dried stems; put colored rocks, beads or even food items in clear glass vases for a different look.
Whether your style is subtle or spectacular, you can bring the crisp, fresh colors of the season into your home - decorate an entire room or simply add a single piece to your décor to make a statement that is all your own.
