Fuchsia Placemat Purse

Materials Needed:
Placemat
Ribbon – 3 ½ yds.
Bead Trim – 1 yd.
Heat/Bond Tape
Fabric Glue

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Cut 4 pieces of ribbon 18” long for the handles. Heat/bond (follow package directions) 2 pieces of ribbon together to make 1 handle.  Repeat for second handle. Stitch to the ends of the placemat.  Figure #1.

2. Cut the remaining ribbon into 4 equal parts and the bead trim into 2 equal parts.

3. Pin in place the bead trim 2” down from top edge (this can be attached by sewing or glue).

4. Place 1 of the 4 remaining ribbon pieces over the edge of bead trim, pin in place.  Pin another piece of the ribbon above the first.  Now you may choose to glue, heat/bond or sew in place.  One side done, repeat for side 2.

5. Pin placemat with right sides together and stitch the side seams of the purse.  Figure #2.

6. Create a gusset in the bottom of the purse by matching the side seam with the bottom of the purse and stitching about 1 ½” from the point.  Figure #3.  Turn.
