2. Cut the remaining dot and solid ribbon into two equal parts.

3. Pin the solid ribbon in place 1-1/2” down from top edge (this can be attached by sewing or glue).

4. Place the plaid ribbon next to the solid and pin in place. Now you may choose to glue, heat/bond or sew in place.  One side is now done.  Repeat for side 2.

5. Cut four pieces of fabric the width of the placemat by 7 inches.  Layer two pieces of fabric with batting in between the fabric with right sides out.  Quilt sections, sewing first horizontal, then vertical in a one inch grid.  Use polka dot ribbon to cover top raw edge.  Pin one section on each side two inches down from top edge of placemat.  Tuck under ½” raw bottom edge, sew in place.  Continue to sew trims on outside of purse before sewing down pocket sections.  Use extra trim to cover raw edges of inside seams for a finished look.

6. Stitch down on inside of placemat through two layers to create a double or triple pocket.

7. Pin placemat with right sides together and stitch the side seams of the purse.  Figure #2.

8. Create a gusset in the bottom of the purse by matching the side seam with the bottom of the purse and stitching about 1 ½” from the point.  Figure #3.  Turn.
