Walking Set - Purse and Summer Sox
6 stitches to an inch over the k1, p1 stitch pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Purse: Now you begin to knit the pattern stitches.
Pattern Stitch One, Seed Stitch: Round 1: *K1, p1, repeat from * around. Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 twice, then Round 1 once more. Then you will knit the following pattern for 6 rounds: Pattern stitch Two, Rib: All rounds: *K1, p1, repeat from * around. Repeat last 11 rounds 4 times. . Next round: Bind off 21 stitches. You will have 21 stitches remaining. Flap: Working back and forth in rows on 21 stitches, work in Seed Stitch for 4 rows. Continue in Seed Stitch, decrease 1 stitch at the beginning of the next 5 rows - 16 stitches. Buttonhole: Work in Seed Stitch over 6 stitches, bind off 4 stitches, work to end of row. Next row: Work in Seed Stitch, casting on 4 stitches over bound-off stitches of previous row. Work 4 more rows in Seed Stitch, and then bind off all stitches. Strap: Pick up 5 stitches on bound-off edge of Purse, before first row of Flap. Knit these 5 stitches on 2 double pointed needles as follows: knit 5, slide stitches to other end of needle and, without turning your needle, pull yarn across the back of your work and knit 5. Continue in this manner, creating a tube, until strap measures about 36 inches or desired length. Graft live stitches to other side of Purse. Finishing: Seam bottom of Purse with beginning yarn tail. Tighten buttonhole, if necessary, by sewing a stitch at either end. Sew on button. Weave in ends.
Yarn: LION BRAND Magic Stripes Needles: Set of 4 size 3 double pointed needles or size to obtain gauge. Gauge: 6 stitches to an inch over the Seed Stitch pattern. This pattern is more gauge sensitive, so watch your gauge! Body: Cast on 42 stitches. Divide stitches onto 3 needles, 14 stitches per needle. Join, being careful not to twist stitches. Place marker for beginning of round. Work 6 rounds in k1, p1 rib. Work 5 rounds as follows, ending with round 1: Round 1: P1, k1 Round 2: K1, p1 Repeat last 11 rounds 3 times, then work rib pattern for 6 rounds. Loosely bind off all stitches.
