(Supplies may vary by store, however, special store-to-store orders can be placed with a one-week turnaround. Substitutions will be suggested if a product is no longer available.)

Two skeins of Chunky Yarn
1 Wood Ball
Cardstock
Stapler
Vine Wreath
Floral Pick
Chenille Stem
Scissors
Glue Dots

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

1. Cut a 6″ x 1” strip of cardstock. Wrap it around and staple the ends together to create a paper ring. This will be the hat brim that will hold all the yarn pieces.

2. Cut 20 strands of 24” of yarn. These will be used to create the gnome hat.

3. Fold the yarn in half and put through your paper ring you created. Pull ends through loop of yarn and pull tight. Repeat until the paper ring is completely covered. Push all your ends through the ring and take another strand of yarn and tie all the ends together, to create the hat. Trim the ends if needed.

4. Cut 5 yards of yarn for the beard. Wrap the yarn around a 4” piece of cardboard (which is about 24 times around).

5. Take a piece of yarn and tie it around the yarn wrapped around the cardboard. Pull the cardboard out and cut all the loops opposite of your tie. Take another piece of yarn and tie it around all the strands just below your first tie. You are essentially creating a tassel that will be your gnome’s beard. Tuck your tassel beard into the hat.

6. Place the wood ball where desired to make the gnome nose, using hot glue or glue dots to hold in place.

7. Use a chenille stem to tie on the floral pick on the wreath. Then using another chenille stem, pull it through the back of the gnome hat and twist it onto the wreath.

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

1. Apply a dot of hot glue to the base rim of the cone to tack the yarn strand in place. Wrap the yarn around the cone until it’s all covered. Make sure you don’t see the foam between the strands. Apply glue at the end to secure the yarn.

2. Apply Gel Stain on the unfinished wood candlestick holders. Let dry completely.

3. Apply a fair amount of glue to the top of the candlestick holder and place it on the bottom side of the wrapped cone. Hold in place for a few seconds to make sure it has time to cool.
